They always reveal these messages via YouTube. To reinforce their point, Nine and Twelve adopt the name “Sphinx” and leave the police cryptic messages, revealing the nature of their crimes. Their goal is not to attack Japanese society as a whole, but to alert society to the shortcomings of the government at its center. Nine and Twelve’s attacks are always highly public, claim no lives, and highlight the dysfunctionality of a government that, they feel, has failed them. Nine and Twelve suffered as orphans, and possibly test subjects, when they were children. This series takes an interesting spin on terrorism as the main characters use it almost as a form of expression. This series is told from the terrorists’, Nine and Twelve, points of view. I chose this series first because it deals with a hot topic in both Japanese and American society: terrorism. Without further ado, the first series will be Zankyou no Terror (Trans: Terror in Resonance), a 2014 Summer anime released by studio MAPPA that is eleven episodes long. Japanese word of the day: “no” which means “of”, usually in the possessive sense, but can mean “in” or “on” to ease in translation (as it is in this anime’s title) Sequel series will be included in the same blog post as the original series (anime series’ second second+ seasons often go by different names like the Star Wars movies).
